Relationships

If we want to link from one enquiry to another we need to create a Relationship. For example we can link an enquiry with bin content to another enquiry showing lot information, but we need to tell the system how bin contents relates to lot information.

On Device Enquiries you will see Relationships. Select the line you are looking to create the link for. Then click on Relationships.

Click on New

This takes you to Enquiry Rel. Card. And this is where you will set up your relationship or your link between two tables. Device enquiry code is the enquiry code you are linking from. Device Enquiry Relation should be populated with what you want to link to. Click on Show Lots to drill-down from the Bin Enquiry to the Bin Lot Enquiry.

The Device Enquiry Rel. Subform details how the enquiries are linked. For instance if you were drilling down from purchase documents to purchase lines, you would link "Purchase Header" to "Purchase Line" using "Document Type" and "Document No." - that's two fields linking the two tables together. In this case we are linking Bin Code from the Bin Enquiry (BINENQ) to Bin Code on the Lot Enquiry by Bin (BINLOTENQ)

If you go to your handheld device and search your item enquiry. In the example I have used you can see all the bins that this item is in. If you click on to the first one, you will get another screen saying “show lots”. This is the drill down I just created in business central.
