Delivery Areas are used to group Customers, Vendors, Locations and Post Codes into single areas for Shipment Management. Documents that fit the criteria for a delivery area will be delivered (or collected) on the same route.

Delivery Areas can be found by using the search to find the page or exploring the warehouse role centre to get to the page.

The page will show a list of Delivery Areas (if you are using Shipment Management for the first time the list will be empty). At this point you can either highlight one of the delivery areas already created or click on the new button to begin creating a new area, either option will open the Delivery Area Card.

You will see straight away that each delivery area requires a Code (unique identifier) and, optionally, a Description to make Delivery Areas easier to understand. A Country/Region Code Filter can also be added.

The Location Code determines the warehouse location that will fulfil the delivery area. If you are using your own logistics for the area, you can, optionally, specify the Default Vehicle and Default Driver, allowing you to be able to record which driver and vehicle is delivering to a certain route.

If you wish to use Call Lists in association with a Delivery Area, then check the Use Call List field. You can also specify Call Period before Delivery. This is a date Formula that specifies the number of working days before the delivery date that the call should be made. See Using Call Lists for more information. It is also possible to, optionally, specify the SalesPerson Code of the salesperson responsible for sales to customer in this delivery area.

The Lines of the Delivery Area, you add the Destinations that are covered by the Delivery Area. The Destination Types can be specific Customers, Vendors or Locations. You can also enter a range of Post Codes to be included in the area.

Being able to specify some customers, vendors or locations above a postcode range means that you can prioritise that drop above another drop which may be in the same postcode range.

The delivery order of the destinations can be changed by using the Move Up or Move Down buttons.

You can view the Delivery Area Schedules that use the Delivery Area by selecting Delivery Area Schedules from the ribbon.
