Before you start using Clever Comments it is recommended to complete the Comments Setup Page.

The comments setup page can be opened from the Manual Setup option on the welcome page that is shown automatically if downloading the app from Microsoft AppSource or can be launched from the Assisted Setup list. Alternatively it can be opened by choosing the Lightbulb that opens the Tell Me feature. icon, entering Comments Setup, and then choosing the related link.

The ribbon has the following options:

  • Assisted Setup

Selecting this option will run the Clever Comments Assisted Setup Wizard which will guide you through the setup required for Clever Comments.

  • Setup

The Setup option provides easy access to other setup page related to Clever Comments. Selecting this option will allow you to open the pages for creating Comment Types and Standard Comments.

  • Default Configuration

This option creates a default configuration to help you set up the app more quickly. Please refer to Default Configuration for more information on the setup created by this option.

Note: If existing comments are yet to be converted to the new format required by Clever Comments you will also see an action at the top of the Page to upgrade comments. See Upgrading Existing Comments for more information.

Within the setup screen itself you can optionally enable some additional functionality for Clever Comments:

  • Comment Type Mandatory

Using this option, you may set the Comment Type to be mandatory. This can be useful if you want to enforce that a comment type is selected when creating a new comment, to ensure inheritance rules are applied.

Note: This setting only applies if there are Comment Types configured for the system area the comment is being entered against.
  • Comment Sorting

You can also select the Comment Sorting. This determines the order for which comments will be displayed on the comment sheet. Select Oldest First (default) to show comments by creation date/time with the oldest comment at the top of the list or Newest First to show the most recent comment at the top of the list.

Note: Comments are sorted based on their creation date and not the last time they were modified.
