The format of the standard put-away template has been enhanced to add features, improve usability and allow it to be easily extended.

Each line on the put-away template is now referred to as a ‘rule set’.

In addition to the standard rules of:

  • Fin Fixed Bin
  • Find Floating Bin
  • Find Same Item
  • Find Unit of Measure match
  • Find Bin with less than Min. Qty.
  • Find Empty Bin

The following new rules have been added:

Prevent Different Item Variants The template prevents a mix of item variants being placed in the same bin to reduce picking errors.
Prevent Different Units of Measure The template  prevents a mix of item units of measures being placed in the same bin to reduce picking errors.
Prevent Different Lots The template prevents a mix of different lots of the same item being placed in the same bin to reduce picking errors.
Place in specified Bin Area The template uses Bin Areas to define the correct bin for specialised goods handling. See Bin Areas in this user guide for more information.

A rule set (line) can be created by selecting the New Rule Set… action from the ribbon. .:

An existing rule set can be amended by selecting the line. Rulesets can be re-ordered by selecting Increase Priority or Decrease Priority from either the ribbon or the context menu of the selected rule set.

A rule set can be removed by selecting Remove Rule Set from the ribbon.

When creating or amending a rule set the following dialog will be displayed:

This shows a list of the available rules. Rules can be included/removed from the rule set by checking the option next to the rule.

Note: As part of the install of the extension existing Put-away templates will be converted to the new format automatically and will function identically.
