If you are also using Clever Manufacturing Plus then a Comment Source option will be available on the "Comment Types" screen which allows users to be able to define the Inheritance Rules for Tools.

This allows for comments against the "Tool" screens in Clever Manufacturing Plus to be inherited to Routing Tool Comments, Routing Version Tool Comments, or Production Order Routing Tool Comments.

Manufacturing Journal to Ledger Entry Inheritance

When working with manufacturing processes, comments entered on journal lines are carried through to the resulting ledger entries when the journal is posted. This provides a complete comment trail through the manufacturing workflow:

■ Comments on Output Journal lines are inherited to the resulting Capacity Ledger Entries when the journal is posted
■ Comments on Consumption Journal lines are inherited to the resulting Capacity Ledger Entries when the journal is posted
■ Comments on Production Journal lines are inherited to both Item Ledger Entries and Capacity Ledger Entries as applicable

This ensures that important information recorded against manufacturing journal lines, such as production notes, quality observations or process instructions, is preserved on the posted entries for future reference.

To configure this behaviour, create a Comment Type with the appropriate Comment Source and define the inheritance rules to include the relevant journal and ledger entry combinations. See Comment Types for more information on configuring inheritance rules.

Note: Clever Comments is not a hard dependency of Clever Manufacturing Plus and neither app requires that the other is installed.
