The Rack Bin Creation page is designed to make the process of creating bins easier when bins are part of a rack. The page can be accessed by selecting the Create Bins action on the ribbon of the Racks List:

The worksheet page consists of two sections a list of bins to be created at the top and a visual representation of the bins at the bottom:

The Bins List shows if the bin currently exists on the Bin Exists field. If this field is not checked the the bin has not yet been created and only exists in this worksheet.

The other fields in the bin list can be amended as per a standard bin record.

The page has a number of ribbon actions:

This function allows suggested  rack bins to be generated based on a Bin Code Format. Selecting this option will show the following dialog:

The dialog has the following fields that should be completed:

Bin Code Format The Bin Code Format that defines the structure of the bin coded. This will be defaulted from the Location Card.
Bin Template Code The Bin Template Code used to define the bin type.
No. of Sections The number of sections in the rack. This will be the number of bins the rack can contain horizontally.
Section Starting Code The code of the first section. This will be automatically formatted to meet the requirements of the Bin Code Format.
Increment Section by No. Determines the gap between generated section codes. This defaults to 1. It can be amended to leave gaps for future warehouse re-organisation.
No. of Levels The number of levels in the rack. This will be the number of bins the rack can contain vertically.
Level Starting Code The code of the first level. This will be automatically formatted to meet the requirements of the Bin Code Format.
Increment Level By No. Determines the gap between generated level codes. This defaults to 1. It can be amended to leave gaps for future warehouse re-organisation.
Bin Starting Position Determines which corner of the rack and which direction numbering of the bins starts. Options are Bottom Left, Bottom Right, Top Left or Top Right.

Removes any bins that have been generated but do not currently exist as actual bins.

Creates the generated bins as physical bins.

Note: If the page is closed without applying the changes the user will be promoted with a dialog confirming that they wish to leave without applying changes. If changes are not applied they will remain in the worksheet for future processing.

There is a context menu on the bin list with additional options:

This option merges bins into larger singular bin. This option is useful if the rack contains irregular sized bins or bins for oversized items.

Note: Only adjacent bins can be merged.

Splits the selected into a defined number of sub-bins. This is useful if the bin is sub-divided such as small parts bins or roller racking. A bin can only be split once. Selecting this option will show the following dialog:

The dialog has the following fields that should be completed:

No. of Sections The number of sections to split the bin into.
Section Starting Code The code of the first section. This will be automatically formatted to meet the requirements of the Bin Code Format.
Increment Section by No. Determines the gap between generated section codes. This defaults to 1. It can be amended to leave gaps for future warehouse re-organisation.
No. of Levels The number of levels to split the bins into.
Level Starting Code The code of the first level. This will be automatically formatted to meet the requirements of the Bin Code Format.
Increment Level By No. Determines the gap between generated level codes. This defaults to 1. It can be amended to leave gaps for future warehouse re-organisation.

Note: In order to be able to split bins ‘Allow Sub-Levels/Sub-Sections’ option by be enabled in the associated Bin Code Format.

Removes the selected bin and leaves a gap. This option is useful if there is a walkway through the rack or a particular bin is obstructed by, for example, a pillar.
