Data Validation can be run directly from many pages (List, Card Views and Documents) within Business Central. 

To run the data Validation select the Data Validation action:

 

Selecting the action will perform the following:

  • Card Pages - Will run all enabled data validation templates against the current record.
  • List Pages / Worksheets - Will run all enabled data validation templates against the selected record(s).
  • Documents - Will run all enabled data validation templates against the current record and all related lines.
Note: If you run the validation from a list page, you must select multiple records, otherwise only the record selected will be checked for validation

Note: For those pages that do not contain the action you can still run the data validation against selected records directly from the Data Validation Templates page.

If no templates exists for the template the following dialog will be displayed:

If the records(s) pass data validation, then the following dialog will be displayed: 

If any fields in the record(s) being tested do not meet the requirements of the data validation template then they will be displayed: 

If you are testing multiple records from a list (or a document with lines), you can see which record the error applies to from the Record ID column. Select the Show Record action to view and amend the full record.

For long or detailed error messages you can view the whole message by clicking on the Error Message or using the Show Error action.
