Clever Manufacturing Plus enables you to create "Engineering Change Requests" for the following types of information, directly within Business Central.
-
Items
-
Stockkeeping Units
-
Production BOMs
-
Routings
-
Released Production Orders
-
Production By-Products
An "Engineering Change Request" cannot be created manually by the user. To create a new request, simply navigate to the relevant record within Business Central and select the Create Change Request option from the Engineering Changes menu, an example of which is shown below.
Also available from the menu is the ability view existing "Engineering Change Requests" and "Engineering Change Orders" for the selected record.
Note: If creating a request for an Item, that does not currently have a Bill of Materials, Routing or By-Products defined, the request will be created without any Line details specified. |
When the "Engineering Change Request" is created, the following information will be populated automatically:
No. | Populated using the Engineering Change Request Nos. specified in the "Manufacturing Setup" screen |
Source Type |
This is set based on record from which the request is created, as follows
|
Source No. | Set to the key value of the related Master Data record, such as the No. from the Item record or No. from the Production BOM record |
Description | As above, this is copied from the related master data record |
Status |
When created, the Status is set to Open. During the process of managing an "Engineering Change Request" the following Status' are possible.
|
Created By | This shows the user that has created the "Engineering Change Request" |
Created Date | The date at the time of creating the "Engineering Change Request" |
To enable categorisation and reporting of changes that the business has identified when managing the manufacturing facility, you should first select the Reason Code within the General FastTab before then defining the full details of the changes that you wish to make.
In addition the Reason Code, the following information can be set on the General FastTab, depending on the reason for the changes being required and also the configuration you have set in "Manufacturing Setup".
Effective Date | This specifies the date from which the changes will begin which in turn will be used as the Starting Date on any Production BOM Version, Routing Version, or By-Product Version records that are created when the change request is registered |
Routing Type | If the change request will perform changes to a Routing then you are able to specify whether the routing will be Serial or Parallel. If the Source Type is a Routing then the Routing Type will be set the value from the Routing. |
New Production BOM Version Code | Only shown if the change could be used to create a new Production BOM Version and where the "Manufacturing Setup" Production BOM Version Nos. attribute is set to Manual Entry |
New Routing Version Code | Only shown if the change could be used to create a new Production Routing Version and where the "Manufacturing Setup" Routing Version Nos. attribute is set to Manual Entry |
New Production By-Product Version Code | Only shown if the change could be used to create a new Production By-Product Version and where the "Manufacturing Setup" Production By-Products Version Nos. attribute is set to Manual Entry |
Depending on the Source Type of the "Engineering Change Request" the system will automatically populate the Lines section of the "Engineering Change Request" with manufacturing details related to the source record and you are then able to manage the changes as detailed here.
The creation of Lines is summarised below.
Source Type | BOM Components | Operations | By-Products |
Item | Yes (if BOM linked) | Yes (if Routing linked) | Yes (if By-Products linked) |
Stockkeeping Unit | Yes (if BOM linked) | Yes (if Routing linked) | Yes (if By-Products linked) |
Production BOM | Yes | ||
Routing | Yes | ||
Production By-Product | Yes | ||
Production Order | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Once the "Engineering Change Request" has been created you are then able to manage the information on the change request to specify the changes that you want to implement in relation to the manufacturing process, as identified here.
