No. Series

Before using the Engineering Change Control functionality with your Business Central solution, you should first setup "No. Series" for the "Engineering Change Request" and "Engineering Change Order" documents.

To do this, setup the "No. Series" within Business Central (as you would do any No. Series) and then assign the No. Series information within the "Manufacturing Setup" screen, as highlighted below.

The attributes required to setup document numbering for this functionality are detailed below.

Engineering Change Request Nos. Will be the No. Series used to create the Document No. for newly created Engineering Change Requests at the point that a new request is created by a user
Engineering Change Order Nos. Will be the No. Series used to create the Document No. for newly created Engineering Change Orders, when the Engineering Change Request Document is registered in the system

Engineering Change Reasons

When the need for a change to engineering information is identified, the reason for the change should be known and recorded as part of the "Engineering Change Request".

For each business the potential reasons for needing to make a change can be different and therefore Manufacturing Plus allows you to pre-define these reasons with the "Engineering Change Reasons" screen.

The following information is required for each "Engineering Change Reason".

Code Unique short code to identify the reason
Description A description that is understood by both those creating change requests and also the person(s) reviewing/reporting on changes

Registering Change Requests

As documented in the Registering a Change Request section, the engineering change functionality has the capability to create new Production BOM Versions, Routing Versions and Production By-Product Versions.
