Tool Usage will be automatically registered inside of Business Central when the Setup time or Output Quantities are confirmed against an Output Journal for a Routing Line against which a Tool is setup.

If Setup Time is captured on the Production Journal or Output Journal, then the usage of the Tool will be recorded, based on the Usage Qty. Per Setup value specified on the "Prod. Order Routing Tools" screen.  

For Output Quantities, the usage of the Tool will be registered, based on the Usage Qty. Per Output value specified on the "Prod. Order Routing Tools" screen, taking into consideration the Output and Scrap quantities recorded on the Production Journal or Output Journal line. 

Note: Usage will only be posted for a Tool if the Tool has been checked out (and therefore issued) to the current Production Order. 

The usage information can be viewed from various places inside of Business Central.

  • Released and Finished Production Orders - from the Entries menu, selecting the Tool Ledger Entries option
  • Tools - from the list view, selecting Ledger Entries 
  • Tool Card - usage is shown on the Maintenance FastTab and from the Ledger Entries menu option
  • Find Entries (Navigate) - Tool Ledger Entries will be included when using the Find Entries function from a production order.

In all instances the following view of information will be shown, detailing information relating to the usage and also the Production Order time/output information.
