Racks are a new construct that help to organise the bin and provide a notion of the physical location of a bins within a warehouse. A Rack logically sits between a Location and a Bin in a basic warehouse scenario and a Zone and a Bin if using directed put-away and pick. Racks are optionally in both cases.
Bins do not have to be part of a rack and can be designated as ‘floor bins’.
The Racks list can be access from either the Location List of Location Card by selecting the Racks option on the Ribbon:
This will show a list of the racks within the location:
The following fields are part of the Rack:
Location Code |
The location code where the rack exists. |
Zone Code |
The zone code that contains the rack if using directed put-away and pick. |
Code |
The code for the rack. |
Description |
An optional description for the rack. |
Total Maximum Cubage |
A calculated total of the cubage of every bin in the rack. |
Total Maximum Weight |
A calculated total of the weight of every bin in the rack. |
Total Allowed Weight |
The total allowed weight of the rack. This may be less than the total of the bin in the rack for health and safety purposes. If not populated the total weight will be the Total Maximum Weight. |
Bin Type Code |
A default Bin Type Code for the bins within the rack. Optional. |
Warehouse Class Code |
A default Warehouse Class Code for the bins within the rack. Optional. |
Special Equipment Code |
A default Special Equipment Code for the bins within the rack. Optional. |
Rack Rating |
A default Rack Rating for the bins within the rack. Optional. |
Bin Area Code |
A default Bin Area for the bins within the rack. Optional. |
Aisle |
An optional informational field to show the aisle of the rack. If racks functionality is used for a segment of an aisle. |
Note: Not all fields are visible as standard.
To create the bins in the Rack select the Create Bins action from the ribbon.

There are some additional ribbon actions that provide related information about a rack:
Shows a list of bins that form part of the rack.
Shows the items held within bins within the rack. This view is similar to the standard Bin Contents view but show everything held with the rack.
Shows Statistics for the rack, such as numbers of completed warehouse operations with a chart view.
Shows a list of all Warehouse Entries for the Rack
