If you need to declare hazardous or dangerous goods when shipping items, then you will need to configure a list of the shipping classifications for the categories of hazard that you consign. This is done by first creating Shipping Classifications for each hazard class and then linking it to the items that are hazardous.
Search for Shipping Classifications from the tell me option and you should see the following page.
Note: Clever Dynamics are not experts in hazardous goods and you should confirm with your shipping agent what classifications you need and the detail against each one for your particular circumstances.
Note: Hazardous Goods are not supported for all Shipping Agents and Shipping Agent Services. Currently these have only been tested and validated for FedEx. Please contact Clever Dynamics if you require to declare Hazardous goods with other Shipping Agents.

Code: A code for this hazard class, can be used like posting group codes to set an understandable code for the class and insulate the users creating items from the complexity of UN codes etc.
Description: An internal description for this shipping classification
Priority: The lower the priority the more hazardous the goods. Provided by your shipper usually against the particular UN Code
Hazard Class: The hazard class code for this shipping classification, again this will be specified for UN Code by your shipping agent.
UN Code: The UN code is the international list of hazard classes maintained by the United Nations. Again, we suggest you obtain advice from your shipping agent regards the ones you need to use. Note the UN Code should be entered in this table as just a numeric i.e. not as UN1950 but just 1950.
Proper Shipping Name: This is the description of the UN Code. Note: This needs to be precise if the consignment is to submit via the API, it is case and space sensitive, please be precise.
Packaging Group: Again, this is related to the UN Code and you should confirm the required code (it can be blank) with your shipping agent.
Unit of Measure: This is the unit of measure that it required for this Shipping Classification.
When we submit consignments for hazardous goods, we must declare the volume of each shipping classification. This requires a common item unit of measure to be defined against each item that is linked to the Shipping Classification. That item unit of measure does not need to be (but can be) the base unit of measure, the sales unit of measure or the purchase unit of measure but does (as all item units of measure do) need to have the quantity per defined to say what its relationship is to the base unit of measure.
In the PAINT example above, a paint item might be stocked and sold by the tin but it must have a unit of measure for Litres defined, which if it’s a 500ml tin would be 0.5L. This is used on consignment, so that the system can calculate and declare the total litres of paint being shipped.
