Clever Packing has been designed to be the step in between the standard processes of Picking the Items required for a Sales Order and Shipping them out to the Customer.

A Packing Order can be created in one of two ways, either manually in Business Central or via the Clever Packing Portal.  

When creating a Packing Order manually in Business Central, an overview of the steps that should be taken is described below:

  • When processing a Pick for a Sales Order in Business Central, all Items must be picked into a Container.  This is based on the assumption that, generally in a normal Warehouse setup, all Items required for an order will be picked into the same Tote container and then processed from there.  Containers are part of our Clever WMS Containers App.

  • Populate the Current Pick Container No field.

  • Select the Add Package button.  The most suitable Packaging Type for the Items within the Container will be suggested.

  • Select the Add Package Content button.

  • Scan or enter the Item No into the Package.

  • Enter the Weight of the Package.

  • Post the Packing Order.

  • The Sales Order may then be automatically Shipped, depending on the option selected in Clever Packing Setup.
