When Packaging is used on Packing Orders, you may want to post the Packaging Consumption within Business Central to keep track of how much you are using. This is useful for maintaining stock levels as well as for reporting purposes.
Note: In order to post the Packaging Consumption, the Packing Types must be linked to an item by populating the Packing Item No field.
To process the Packing Consumption, go to either the Warehouse Item Journal or the Item Journal Page and select the Calc. Packing Consumption option.
The Calculate Packaging Consumption Request Page will then be displayed. The fields should be populated as required.

In this Field, you should define the Document Number you would like to use against the first packaging consumption entry that is created. Note - If you have defined a number series against the Batch you are using, then the next number from this number series will be automatically displayed. |

This Field should be used to define which date the Function will calculate the packaging consumption up to. |
| New Doc. No. per Line |
If this Field is Enabled, then the document number (defined in the Starting Document No Field) will be incremented against each separate line created. If this Field is not Enabled, then the same document number (defined in the Starting Document No Field) will be the same for each line created. |
| Re-process Unposted Lines |
If this option is Enabled, then any packaging consumption entries which were previously calculated but then deleted from a Journal, will be suggested again when this Function is run. If this Field is Disabled, then any packaging consumption entries which were previously calculated but then deleted from a Journal, will not be suggested again when this Function is run. |
Select the OK button. This will calculate and populate the journal lines with the packing consumption information.
Note - The Location and Bin that the packaging consumption will be processed from will be taken from the information defined against the Packing Stations record.
The journal lines can then be reviewed and posted as required.
