You can setup Clever Promotions using the "Assisted Setup(s)" provided. The prompts for Assisted Setup will appear as soon as you sign back into Dynamics 365 Business Central after installing Clever Promotions. The prompts are identified as Notifications along the top of your role centre. By clicking on the link Open Setup on the notification, it will open the "Clever Promotions" page.
Using the Assisted Setup provides you with a step by step guide of everything you need to setup to successfully run the Clever Promotions App. If you accidently close the notification without going through the setup, simply use the search to find the Assisted Setup screen. All the fields mentioned below are included in more detail on the Promotions Card article.
From the list, choose to run Set up Clever Promotion. Once you have got past the welcome message you will be presented with a series of setup prompts. Like the manual setup screen, you will need to give your Promotion a unique No and Description. If you have a "No. Series" setup for promotions in the "Sales & Receivables Setup" page that will be considered for the No. field (it will auto populate when you hit enter or tab on the field) otherwise you will have to enter one in manually.
You can also enter a Starting Date and Ending Date for when you want this promotion to run. Leaving it blank means there are no restrictions, and should a sales document qualify for the promotion it can be manually or automatically applied.
Clicking Next takes you to a setup page with further options for you to select to refine your promotion. Confirm if you want to be able to combine discounts by selecting one of the options within the Cannot Be Combined field. Confirm the Currency Code, whether you want to Allow for Currency Conversion and Allow Benefit Multiplication.
Clicking Next again requires information on who can qualify for the promotion you are creating, so populate the Sales Type, and Sales Code fields. Then click Next to confirm how they will qualify. Confirm the Criteria Type which will mark some fields as un-editable dependant on your selection. Populate any that are still accessible and press Next again.
The next step is to setup the benefit of the promotion will be, i.e. once a Sales Document meets the criteria just stated, what will they get in return? Again, dependant on what Benefit Target Type you choose will depend on the editable fields but populate how you want the discount you are granting to be applied to your sales document, whether that be to 'All Lines' on the order, a brand 'New Line', the 'Cheapest Line' that qualifies for a discount or the 'Qualifying Lines' which will apply a discount to the items stated in the previous page. Confirm the New line Quantity to be added, what Discount Type you want to give and what Discount Amount.
Once you have setup the final few steps and confirmed you are happy with the promotion you have created, you can then tick Enable Promotion which will mark the promotion as Active. Click on Finish to confirm the setup has been done.
