OTIF stands for On Time In Full and is one of the most widely used measures of delivery performance. An Order line is counted as OTIF only when both of the following are true.
| On Time | The final delivery was posted on or before the baseline date that was captured when the Order was first released. |
| In Full | The full originally ordered quantity has been delivered. This measure ignores dates. |
| OTIF | Both In Full and On Time are true. |
The difficulty with measuring OTIF in a standard Business Central database is that the original promise is overwritten as an Order is amended. If a Customer's requested date is pushed back, or a quantity is reduced because you cannot fulfil it, the Order will look like it was delivered perfectly.
Clever Trade Plus solves this by capturing a permanent baseline at the point the Order is first released, and by recording the originally entered quantity through the Sales and Purchase Input Log. Performance is then measured against that baseline rather than against the current state of the Order.
What is captured
OTIF data capture covers Sales Orders, Purchase Orders and Transfer Orders. For each of these, when the Order is released for the first time, Clever Trade Plus records:
-
the date and time of the first release, and the user who released it
-
the date and time of the most recent release, and the user who released it
-
the baseline date - the Promised Delivery Date for Sales, the Expected Receipt Date for Purchases, and the Shipment Date and Receipt Date for Transfers - at both header and line level
Alongside this, an OTIF Reason Code can be recorded on the Order and on the posted Shipment, Receipt or Transfer document, so that you can explain why a delivery was late or short.
Note: OTIF capture is switched on per Customer, per Vendor and per Location, so you can measure only the trading partners that require it. See Setup.
